An elegant and versatile eating spoon!
Handcarved using axe and knife, from silky silver birch from Minety, Wiltshire, UK.

Decorated with a simple folk-art wildflower design in Kolrosing.
Kolrosing is an Ancient Scandinavian technique of cutting your design into the word with a sharp knife, filling the cut with a colour pigment (I use cinnamon), then burnishing the design with a smooth tool to close the wood And trap the colour pigment inside the cut.

Silver birch is sometimes referred to as the lady of the woods for its glittering silver shaded leaves. Birch Is thought to represent new beginnings, fertility, and rebirth due to it being the first tree to usually colonise new ground, dropping its leaves and twigs to enrich the soil for other trees to follow. It is thought to be a tree of life giving properties.

Approx 18 - 19cm tall.
Finished with Tung Oil.

Care Instructions

This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
