A shallower take on a coffee scoop, this caddy spoon is made from this stunningly patterned spalted Beech wood, kindly gifted from a friend in Oxfordshire.
An ergonomic design perfect for scooping your morning coffee, tea leaves, sugar and other scoopable delights. A simple circle design added to the handle. It’s a more petite version of my usual coffee scoops.
In folklore, the beech tree is associated with wisdom and knowledge. Known as ‘The Queen of the Woods’ the Beech tree was thought to bring protection, prosperity and ancestral memory to the holder of an item carved from Beech.
Hand-carved with axe and knife. Tool marks may still be visable. Knife finished, with coats of beeswax and food safe mineral oil blend.

This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
