~ Danu ~

Named after the Ancient Celtic Mother goddess, Danu is a divine figure associated with Earth power and wisdom.

Hand carved using traditional methods, this functional yet beautiful coffee scoop is the perfect addition to your morning ritual. Carved with axe and knife, from locally sourced Cherry Wood, from Bath City UK.

This is the perfect little scoop for any cottage kitchen, great for coffee, dried herbs, and magic potions from the Earth.

The design is a one-off unique piece of kolrosing. Kolrosing is an ancient Scandinavian technique of cutting the design into the wood, filling the cuts with colour pigment (I use cinnamon and tung oil) and burnishing to close the wood, trapping the colour pigment beneath the surface. Essentially a wood tattoo!

Care: Do not put me in the dishwasher. Handwash in warm water and air dry naturally. The wood will take on natural oils and grow a lovely patina with use and may darken over time. That’s the charm of working with a natural material, forever evolving and changing. A little coat of oil now and then when it looks dry and thirsty can help… Tung oil, walnut oil, mineral oils and beeswax can be rubbed in lightly every 6-12months if desired, although not necessary if you prefer a natural look.

Care Instructions

This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
