Imbolc Saint Brigid’s Cross Eating Spoon ~ Cherry Wood
Imbolc Saint Brigid’s Cross Eating Spoon ~ Cherry Wood
An Imbolc special for Saint Brigid’s day.
The pagan goddess Brigid is the goddess of poets, fire and the spring.
The Brigid’s cross is a symbol of Celtic Christianity, representing protection, good luck, and the new beginnings of Spring. Surrounded by the warming spring sun rays.
Eating spoon in Cherry wood from Wiltshire.
Finished with Kolrosing and Tung Oil.
Kolrosing is an old Scandinavian technique of cutting the design into the wood with the tip of a knife, filling the cut with a colour pigment (I use cinnamon), oiling, and then burnishing the wood to close the wound over, trapping the pigment under the top layer of wood. Essentially a wood tattoo that will last for years to come.
This spoon is knife-finished and is fully functional to eat with.
Hand wash only. This item will benefit from a coat of oil when it looks thirsty (every 6-12 months depending on usage).
Free UK postage.

Care Instructions
This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
