This little sleepy woodland sprite turned up in my mind with some friends one afternoon and insisted I added their faces to some spoons!
These mischievous little things might cause a little fun havoc in your home…. be prepared!
Based on a classic greenman design, the surrounding oak leaves show how old and wise these beings are regardless of their trickster attitudes…
Hancarved and knife-finished eating spoon in beautiful cherry wood, finished with freeform Kolrosing, before being burnished and coated with Tung Oil.
Kolrosing is an ancient Scandinavian technique of cutting the design into the wood, filling with a colour pigment (I used cinnamon powder) and then burninshing to close the wood cuts, trapping the colour pigment inside. Essentially it’s a wood tattoo!

This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
