Everything you need to start your spoon carving journey!
Green woodwork and spoon carving has experienced a revolution in the last few years, and rightly so! For me, spoon carving ticks all the boxes; it's a calming and meditative, mindful activity that gets you outdoors in nature and gets you truly connected to what you are doing. Spoon carving has a wonderful community around the globe that are seeing the benefits for themselves and sharing it with others.
I have designed these kits to make it easy for you to experience the joy of wood carving for yourselves, and they also make great gifts for others!
Choose from cooking spoons, eating spoons, coffee scoops, or a mixed spoon kit.
Each kit contains:
- Mora 106 straight knife
- Mora 162 hook knife
- A finished spoon to use as a template
- Four green-wood carving blanks
- A mini first aid kit
- An instruction sheet
- Two leather strops to keep your knives sharp
- Polishing compound for your strops.
Things to note:
- Currently I can only ship to the UK due to limitations with shipping knives and green wood abroad and to ensure I can offer the best quality wood on arrival to you.
- The spoon carving blanks will be cut to order, please allow a maximum 7 day lead time on this.
- The spoon carving blanks will be sent wrapped in ziplock bags to keep them fresh to carve. I would recommend putting these in the freezer until you are ready to work on them to prevent mould. If you do get mounding, just wash it off and carve it out. Please be aware of this when ordering for others, if it is a gift, perhaps open the kit and freeze the blanks until you are ready to give the gift.
- I recommend these kits for age 14+.
- I also offer top-up kits for those who have their own knives already and just want some more spoon blanks to carve.
- Each kit is carved to order, so the shapes and cuts of the blanks will vary slightly. The blanks are cut by axe and the tool marks will still be present for you to carve out.
- Please note that some wood oxidises when it’s wet, so don’t be alarmed if it turns up bright orange in the bag, as you will carve this out with your finishing cuts once your completed spoon is dry.
- I will use the fresh wood I have available which will most likely be Cherry or Hazel.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
This is a hand carved wooden item and knife and tool marks may still be present. Please do not put wooden items in the dishwasher. Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave to air dry. You may wish to oil your spoon every once in a while if it starts looking thirsty. A coat of food safe oil (tung oil, nut oils etc) will nourish the wood and keep it looking fresh.
